Maria Tavares Trindade is a 21-year-old Portuguese multidisciplinary artist. Born in Castelo Branco, she graduated in Multimedia Art from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon after completing her secondary education in science and technology, thus beginning her artistic career with a more scientific and empirical mindset.

In the faculty of  Fine Arts, she established her work through media such as experimental and narrative video, photography, and sound art, focusing on themes such as the importance of process, the elevation of execution over completion, and personal discovery.

In addition, it is also worth noting her Erasmus semester at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Germany, where she held three exhibitions and furthered her practice by exploring the creation of installations and sculptures, as well as the development of community projects in a team. During this time, her work grew towards an analysis of the human body as an objectified means of exploration and communication. There was also a focus on the personification of nature and her personal identification with it, as well as the discovery of interpersonal relationships and the study of human behavior.

While maintaining her objective and practical approach, her recent projects show a more emotional and contemplative motivation, thus opening the door to the development of more honest and raw pieces.

In terms of experiences outside of teaching, Maria Trindade is also a member of the collective “do ou no,” with which she held the exhibition Entre-Laços and a 5-day residency in Góis, Coimbra. She was also selected for the Open Call for FUSO- Lisbon International Video Art Festival 2024 and recently took part in the exhibition 2'43'' at p28 - Creative and Artistic Development Association. Finally, she participated in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange - Film Frequency in Colares, Sintra, where she developed her video and sound practices in collaboration with international colleagues.
